Community members may arrange to audition this summer for the Lake Erie College Chorus, a component of the College’s expanding music department.
The chorus’s first rehearsal of the fall semester will be held Monday, August 20 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Following that, weekly rehearsals will take place on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m in the Paul S. Weaver Auditorium of the Helen Rockwell Morley Memorial Music Building at Lake Erie College.
Prospective community singers may audition for the Lake Erie College Chorus by contacting Director Mary Crow at firstname.lastname@example.org or 440-983-0227.
The Chorus has brought together Lake Erie College students and area residents for nearly 30 years. Members practice blend, balance, intonation and musical phrasing in the art of traditional choral singing. Performances occur twice annually, once at the traditional Christmas Vespers and once at the Spring Musical Arts Concert on campus.
Choral Director Mary Crow has shared her passion for choral singing with a variety of ages, in a variety of settings for the past 30 years. She believes that choral singing is unique as an artform because singers are working together to create something beautiful.
Currently in her fourth year as director of the Lake Erie College Chorus, Mrs. Crow received her Bachelor of Music Education from Bowling Green State University. While there, she studied choral conducting with Richard Mathey and Dr. Ivan Trussler.
Katrina Brill, a member of the chorus for over 2 years, said, “I love to sing, I love creating choral music and Mary Crow is an amazing director. She is ‘strict’ with the sound and actually teaches the group how to sing with more precision and vocal strength. If someone is excited about vocal music and is willing to put in the practice, they will find this group a rewarding musical experience!”Back To News
