He was recently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Oswego where he advised students, taught several face-to-face and online courses, and served as a faculty advisor for several student organizations. His past responsibilities as an educator have included supervision and mentorship to student interns and volunteers for various academic programming events and student run organizations. Additionally, Dr. Moody has developed and coordinated several academic initiatives such as Voices of Diversity (a program designed to promote awareness to the lack of representation and misrepresentation of minorities in the media industry) and the Dr. Lewis B. O’Donnell Media Summit which is a day-long event that gives students an opportunity to network with some of the top names in the broadcasting industry. He received his Ph.D. in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University and is the author of two books: The Complexity and Progression of Black Representation in Film and Television (2016) and Political Melodies in the Pews ?: The Voice of the Black Christian Rapper in the Twenty-first-Century Church (2012) published by Lexington Books (a subsidiary of Rowman and Littlefield). Of joining Lake Erie College, Dr. Moody states that “I am looking forward to working with the Lake Erie College staff and faculty in an effort to promote a culture that facilitates mentoring relationships and encourages opportunities for student exploration inside and outside the classroom. Please feel free to stop by office at 121 College Hall.”
