Dr. Doug Bird to present ANIA webinar on March 28

On Tuesday, March 28, Dr. Doug Bird, coordinator of online learning and director and adjunct instructor for the Parker MBA program, will present a webinar for the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).

The ANIA, one of the more noted professional organizations for health informatics, conducts webinars on a monthly basis which are broadcast to members throughout the United States and 15 countries. The organization’s membership has broadened to include an estimated 3,000 nurses and other healthcare professionals in informatics practice, including roles in system design and implementation, education, research (analysis and evaluation), standards and policy development, quality improvement, and those in management and administration.

As explained on the ANIA’s website, the organization seeks to integrate nursing science, computer science and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge and wisdom in nursing and informatics practice. Health informatics is the study of resources and methods for the management of health information. Specially, the discipline supports health information technology, medical practices, medical research and medical informatics.

Dr. Bird will present “Change and Conflict Management in Healthcare,” a webinar examining these issues from the perspective of those who work in informatics. The webinar’s description is as follows: “Health informatics today means significant information, use of technology and also change. Where there is change, there is conflict. These two must be, and can be, managed and thus will result in much smoother implementations as well as overall adoption of health information systems in your organization.”

The Lake Erie College Parker MBA program will be launching a concentration in health informatics starting in the fall 2017 semester. More information will follow regarding the specifics of this opportunity.

Dr. Bird’s webinar will take place Tuesday, March 28 from 3:00-4:00 p.m., EST and is $20 for non-ANIA members. To register, visit https://www.ania.org/ania-events/webinars.
