Dr. Jerry Jaffe to lead comedy workshop at Morley Library

Community members will soon embark on their own comedy adventures at Morley Library with Lake Erie College’s resident jokester and head of comedy studies.

Associate Professor of Theatre Jerry Jaffe, PhD, will lead a comedy workshop at Painesville’s Morley Library on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in combined meeting room A and B.

Dr. Jaffe, a touring standup comedian, will guide workshop attendees through comedy basics, including improvisation and creating their individual style.

Having been professionally active in theatre and comedy for over 40 years, he has directed, produced or acted in more than 100 plays and has performed standup across the continent from LA to NYC, Atlanta to Toronto.

In addition, he produces three podcasts including the popular trivia podcast “Gold Star Classroom” and hosts Eastside Comedy at Toth's Place in Mentor, Ohio. He has taught and performed internationally with stretches in Japan and New Zealand, where he lived for 10 years.

Dr. Jaffe will also join Morley Library for “WOW: Writers on Writing,” taking place Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. His session “How to Write and Perform Jokes” will introduce comedy writing strategies.

Both events are free and open to the public.
