Final Push for Votes in National Historic Preservation Grant Benefiting Lake Erie College

Academics,

Northeast Ohio residents have until Tuesday, October 29, 2019 to vote in the National Main Street Historic Preservation initiative underway at twenty different sites nationwide.  The only Ohio site among the group is Painesville, specifically College Hall at Lake Erie College.

The twenty preservations sites are all vying for votes on a daily basis through October 29th with the top ten sites garnering the most votes and sharing in $2 million dollars in grant funding.  Lake Erie College’s College Hall could receive $150,000 in funding to help defer the cost of refurbishing the front clock tower entrance and admissions welcoming area.

Built in 1857 College Hall has served as the main administration and classroom building for the College founded in 1856.  In conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, the many contributions to Lake Erie College women leaders and the suffrage movement are also being celebrated as part of this year’s preservation initiative.

To vote simply log onto voteyourmainstreet.org/Painesville or text “MAINSTREET” to 52886.
