Lake Erie College is pleased to announce Nancy Kohler-Cunningham of Erie, Penn. as the head coach of the College’s renowned Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Hunt Seat Team.
Kohler-Cunningham comes to LEC from a long career as a professional horsewoman, educator and judge. She worked for the College as an adjunct faculty member and horse show manager earlier in her career. From 1986 to 1997 she was the Equestrian Program Director of The Andrews Osborne Academy in Willoughby, Ohio. Coach Kohler-Cunningham then worked at Alfred University in New York as their Equestrian Program Director, IHSA Hunt Seat Program Director, and IHSA Hunt Seat Coach.
From 2012-2017 she was an IHSA Board Member and Regional President. Kohler-Cunningham currently serves as the national president of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), an organization of over 12,500 middle and high school riders across the nation.
“We are delighted to welcome Head Coach Nancy Kohler-Cunningham back to Lake Erie College” says Dr. Pamela Hess, Dean of the School of Equine Studies. “Nancy brings a wealth of competitive and coaching experience to our team, and we are excited to see what the new competition year holds for our promising IHSA Hunt Seat team.”
The first home horse show of the season will be held at the Lake Erie College George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center at 8031 Morley Road in Mentor, Ohio on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28. Visitors are welcome free of charge during the show from 9 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. each day.
