Lake Erie College Department of Music Presents Lecture Recital of Rare Art Songs

Fine Arts,

Dr. Francesco Binda and Lauren M. Feola of Lake Erie College’s Music Department will present a lecture recital of rare art songs. The event will take place Friday, March 29, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Helen Rockwell Morley Memorial Music Building.

The art songs by 20th century Italian Composer Franco Alfano on poems by the 1913 Nobel Prize literature recipient, Rabindranath Tagore, historically remain brilliant works of genius. The distinctively prosed words of Tagore are set to the invigorating Italianate musical ideas of Alfano and narrate the story's enhancement for the listener. Written for piano and voice and sung in Italian, these songs will be accompanied by Tagore’s paintings.

Lauren Feola teaches voice lessons at LEC and regularly performs in the Music Department’s spring and winter concerts. Dr. Binda also performs in LEC concerts as a guest collaborative artist. The recital will be approximately sixty minutes and is free and open to the public.
