Lake Erie College partners with University Hospitals to offer MBA pathway for preceptors

Thanks to a new agreement, preceptors from University Hospitals (UH) and all members of their office staffs can now earn scholarships toward the Lake Erie College Parker Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Through the partnership, every health care provider at UH who precepts a student from LEC’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program will earn one scholarship for the hospital. The value for each scholarship is up to $3,000 per student for full-time UH employees and up to $1,500 per student for part-time UH employees.

“The evolving health care system will require more engaged clinical leaders than ever,” said Dr. Donald DeCarlo, CMO, COO at UH Geauga Medical Center. “We appreciate Lake Erie College providing this opportunity to help make sure our health care leaders are fully prepared for the challenges of the future.”

The scholarships may be applied to the “out-of-pocket” costs to student tuition and fees. The scholarship is also available to independent physicians who serve as UH preceptors and the members of their office staffs. Regardless of status, there is no limit to the number of tuition scholarships a UH preceptor may earn.

“I am very excited about this opportunity for our clinical preceptors at UH, as they have continuously supported our PA students during their clinical rotations to prepare the students for the rigors of medical practice,” said Program Director Sean Kramer, MSHS, PA-C. “I am also proud of the collaborative effort between LEC’s School of Business and School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. This is an excellent example of an interdisciplinary effort that will be beneficial for all involved.”
