Lake Erie College set to host major equestrian event and competition


Lake Erie College will host the United States Hunter Jumper Association’s 2017 Emerging Athletes Program (EAP) National Training Session and Horsemanship Quiz Nationals. Olympian Peter Wylde and renowned stable management expert Anne Thornbury will lead the riding and stable-management session November 9-12. These events will take place at the George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center's indoor riding arena and Learning Center.

Teams of four will compete in a final two-round Nations Cup-style competition, with one rider being named United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) EAP National Champion. This champion will win a $5,000 scholarship to Lake Erie College and other grants and gifts from sponsors. Lake Erie College will also award a $3,000 scholarship to the Outstanding Stable Manager and a $2,000 scholarship to the peer-nominated sportsmanship award.
