Lake Erie Theatre Department presents “‘My Dear Wife…’: Letters from the Union Army”

Fine Arts,

The Lake Erie College Theatre department will present a previously unnamed weekend of monologues titled “‘My Dear Wife…’: Letters from the Union Army” Sept. 8-9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 10 at 2:00 p.m.

“As a response to some current events related to the American Civil War, this show uses actual documents from the period,” said Director Dr. Jerry Jaffe, associate professor of theatre. “Each monologue is adapted from an authentic letter, diary, or interview from the period. The persons represented include officers, soldiers, family members, and former slaves.”

The show features a cast of students and community members, including students Michaela Hess, Elle Deschene-Pillar, Amizael Figueroa, Jayla Lindsey, Ennis Thomas, Sammy Jo Adkins, Sierra Sadler, Deja Wilson, Sarah Speer, and LEC alumna Nicole Clevenger.

Lighting was designed by adjunct professor Martin Bluestein.

Performances will be held in the C.K. Rickel Theater in Royce Hall for the Fine and Performing Arts. Attendance is free.
