LEC to take part in March for Science Cleveland

On Saturday, April 22, members of the Lake Erie College community will join with individuals and organizations across Cleveland at the March for Science Cleveland to take a stand in support of science.

A satellite march for the national March for Science in Washington, D.C., March for Science Cleveland is a local collaboration between grassroots volunteers and a coalition of foundations and science-based organizations. As stated in the event’s news release, the march is meant to underscore the vital role scientific research plays in our daily lives and celebrate the impact of science in the Northeast Ohio community. Lake Erie College is a proud sponsor of the event.

March for Science Cleveland will take place Saturday, April 22 at Public Square in downtown Cleveland and is expected to draw thousands of supporters. In addition to the march, participants can take part in various family-friendly activities promoting the importance of understanding science, advocacy for scientific research, and highlighting the story of scientific breakthrough and discovery in the region. Activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a rally featuring speakers and entertainment to follow at 10:00 a.m. The march will kick off at 11:00 a.m.

"The faculty in the Lake Erie College School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics support of the mission of the March for Science, which is to promote evidence-based practices and scientific thinking,” said Dr. Deborah Schulman, associate professor of biology and director of the LEC Honors Program. “Our curriculum encourages students to think in this way and we wanted to take our place among the prestigious Cleveland area institutions in supporting this important event.  Science, not silence!"
