Michelle Kinney, Class of 2016, Communication/Marketing
Over her years at LEC, senior Michelle Kinney has become one of the most recognizable faces on campus. Her interests have led her to serve as a resident assistant, a student ambassador, a student leader for the Arts, Cultures and Humanities Learning Community, and even as the president of the Student Government Association.
Apart from her extracurricular interests, Michelle is pursuing a major in communications and a minor in marketing, both fields about which she is incredibly passionate. "I love to tell my family what I'm learning in my classes and how excited I am that I love what I'm studying," she said. "There's really no doubt that LEC is the place I am meant to be."
Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Michelle initially chose to attend LEC because of the family environment on campus that made her feel at home. "My favorite thing about the College is something you cannot see on a tour," she said. "It is the loving support you receive from the LEC family. The faculty and staff here are always rooting for the students to succeed and will do as much as they can to make sure that occurs."
Following graduation, Michelle plans to attend graduate school with the ultimate goal of working in the field of higher education, specifically in campus activities.
Michelle has the following advice for prospective students: "If you choose to attend Lake Erie College, you won't regret it. This place becomes your home for four years, and you are always surrounded by the LEC family. Being a part of a smaller campus like ours really is a special experience."
