Nadia Lee, Class of 2017, Political Science/Spanish
For someone who hates cold weather, Nadia Lee has settled in nicely here in the Snowbelt. The Atlanta native is currently a junior at the College pursuing a major in political science and a minor in Spanish studies.
In addition to her coursework, Nadia is a student-athlete on the track and field team and serves as the vice president of the Student Government Association. She is also the president of LEC's Black Student Union, a resident assistant and a member of the Honors Program.
"I chose LEC because I loved how friendly and close-knit the community was," she said. "At LEC I'm able to juggle both a rigorous academic schedule and an athletic career, and excel in both."
Of the many things Nadia has grown to love about the College, her two favorites are the friendly nature of everyone on campus and the fact that, given the small size of the campus, she doesn't have to be outside long in the winter to get to her classes.
One of Nadia's favorite stories to share about her experiences at LEC involves a time during her freshman year when she and her friends chose to investigate the ghost stories they'd heard about College Hall. For those who don't know, the fourth floor of College Hall, the oldest building on campus, is often rumored to be haunted. While they were unsuccessful in uncovering any evidence of ghosts, Nadia and her friends had fun getting spooked on the annual campus Ghost Walk!
Though she views life as a constant learning process, Nadia anticipates that five years from now she will still be working hard and making those around her proud, hopefully by finishing her law degree. Her true goal is to be having fun and positively influencing the lives of others.
Nadia urges students who are considering attending Lake Erie College to take the plunge. "If you're looking for a beautiful campus, a place to get to know yourself and be able to stand out, a place to be challenged academically and make a ton of friends, Lake Erie College is the place for you!"
