Dr. Jerry Jaffe Highly Active in the Comedy WorldAssociate Professor of Theater Dr. Jerry Jaffe recently traveled to Los Angeles to participate in a comedy show on October 3 at the Flappers Comedy Club. Known as the "world's most highly educated stand-up comic," Jaffe joined seven other comedians for this particular show. It is his third time performing at Flappers in the past two years.
Dr. Jaffe stays highly active in the comedy world. For nearly three years, Dr. Jaffe has produced a comedy show at Toth's Place in Mentor called "Eastside Comedy." The show is twice a month. On Wednesday, October 30, the show will be combining standup comedy with a Halloween Costume Contest.
He has hosted shows at The Funny Bone in Toledo, The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls, JRs in Erie as well as various other places. He is a featured performer in an upcoming documentary called "Behind the Laughs." This film follows five Midwest comedians and examines their art as well their motivations for doing comedy. Recently, he headlined a "nerd" comedy show in Canton which was featured at the Warren Comedy Club in September. Dr. Jaffe has also closed out shows in the Euclid Tavern in Cleveland, Maracas in Mentor, Mutt & Jeff's in Lorain Peaberry's in Michigan and Sodbusters in Toledo.

In Spring 2014, Dr. Jaffe will offer a class at the College on comedy, TH 270 "Comedy in America." In this class, students will study film, television, comedy writing, stand up, improve and various other types of comedy.
