Burrows Races To Two School Records and an NCAA Provisional Time at DII Team Challenge

Sophomore Chris Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) set a pair of school records and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in the 200-meter dash to lead the Lake Erie College men's track and field team to a seventh place finish at the Division II Team Challenge Saturday (Feb. 5) at the University of Findlay.

Burrows' time of 22.08 placed him fourth overall in the event, which converts to a 21.78 for track size, well ahead of the 22.20 provisional qualifying time. He finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.93 seconds after finishing second in the preliminaries in 6.94.

He is the fifth different Lake Erie athlete to reach provisional qualifying this season to date.

Sophomore Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) tied his twin brother Ethan's school record in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.58 seconds to place eighth in the event. Ethan Snyder was close behind at 8.63 seconds, in 10th place.

Classmate Cody Lancaster (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) broke his own school record in the mile run, crossing the finish line in 4:32.82.

Others placing on the day included freshmen jumpers Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) and Isaac Reid (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg).  Dudley was second in the high jump, clearing 6-8 ¾", while Reid placed third in the triple jump, leaping 43' 1".

Only a handful of Storm women completed due to a flu bug infecting a majority of the team overnight.  Sophomore Andrea Boyd (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) had a decent showing, running 7.97 seconds in the 60-meter prelims and placing 10th in the finals with a time of 7.98. Classmate Whitney Johnson (Oakwood Village, Ohio/Bedford) finished 12th in the 200 (26.51 seconds).

The Storm heads to Allendale, Mich., next weekend for the Big Meet at Grand Valley State University Feb. 11-12
