BEACHWOOD RESIDENT JOINS FACULTY AT LAKE ERIE COLLEGE
(PAINESVILLE, OHIO) – Lake Erie College is pleased to announce the addition of Paola Basile to the Modern Languages Department. Basile serves as Assistant Professor of Italian and French. In this position, she is responsible for teaching courses in Italian and French to undergraduate students, including Special Topics in Italian; Calvino, Cassola, Guareschi; and various Italian and French literature courses. She also serves as a faculty advisor.
Prior to joining the Lake Erie faculty, Basile served as adjunct professor of Italian at both the University of Montreal and at Concordia University, located in Montreal, Canada. She also served as a part-time professor of Italian Culture at the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, part of the Italian Consulate.
“I like to teach small classes, and Lake Erie College is the perfect environment for that,” says Basile. “You get to know your students here and feel that you are making an impact.”
A native of Rome, Italy, Basile earned her Laurea with Honors at the University of Roma “La Sapienza” in Rome, Italy in Foreign Languages and Literatures. She then completed a Master of Arts in French Studies at McGill University in Montreal and a Ph.D. in Italian and Comparative Literature at the University of Montreal.
Basile is a member of the Modern Languages Association, Canadian Society of Italian Studies, and the American Society of Italian Studies. She currently resides in Beachwood, Ohio with her spouse, Marcel Fournier.
