Part-Time Instructor of Education – Children’s Literature

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applicants for Adjunct Instructor of Education – children’s literature reporting to the dean of the School Education for summer 2022.

Using collaborative approaches, instructional technology and innovative methods, the successful candidate will provide instruction in critical analysis of children’s literature at the graduate level. The course description is as follows:

  • EDM512 Critical Analysis of Children’s Literature As an advanced study of book evaluation, literary criticism, children’s book publishing, awards and current trends in the files, this course requires extensive critical reading. It is designed to improve the ability to discern quality books and illustrations, to acquire a literary canon and apply it across generals. The overarching purpose is to develop critical literacy skills that provide student access to reading and writing about democracy, social justice and culturally responsive literature.

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching in a liberal arts college environment. To be considered for the adjunct instructor position, the candidate should hold a Ph. D. in a related field (children’s literature, early childhood education) and must be able to teach fully online using LMS platform.
