Rebecca Dempsey enters her fifth season as the Storm softball head coach after she accepted the position in December of 2016 after having served as an graduate assistant coach from 2014-2016 while earning her Masters degree in education. In her first season, she coached six players to the ALL-GLIAC team, the most ever by the program. The Storm was also first in the GLIAC in fielding percentage, another first for the Storm.

As a student-athlete at Denison University, she earned her bachelors degree in education while she was a four year starter on the Denison Softball Team from 2011-2014. Rebecca had a remarkable career at Denison, she was a six time North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Pitcher of the Week, earned first Team All-NCAC honors in 2011, 2013 & 2014, named NCAC Pitcher of the Year in 2011 and 2014, earned first Team All Central Region in 2014 and named to the NCAC All-Decade Team for 2004-2014. In her senior year at Denison she dominated opposing lineups with a 1.47 E.R.A., opponents hit only .189 against her and she had 133 K’s with only 12 walks in 105 innings while earning 11 of the teams 20 wins. 

Rebecca finished her career holding many first place all-time records at Denison, including: Lowest Opponent Batting Average (.193), Most Complete Games (53), Most Shutouts (23), Most Strikeouts (487), Most Strikeouts per seven innings pitched (7.91), she threw two perfect games, the only two in school history.

She is also first all-time in NCAC history for Shutouts (23) and Strikeouts per seven innings pitched (7.91).  Â
