Rebecca Cornell, Class of 2017, English
After visiting with the members of the Storm women's soccer team, Ashland native Rebecca Cornell knew she had found her home for the next four years. Now a junior, Rebecca is a member of the team herself, as well as an intern in the Office of Admissions, a student ambassador for the College and a member of the Honors Program and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
In her time here, Rebecca's favorite memories thus far tend to involve time spent with her teammates. "We play sock dodgeball at practice because our coach is awesome," she said. "I love them all to death."
An ambitious student, Rebecca is pursuing a major in English with minors in psychology and communications. She plans to use this multi-disciplinary background to pursue a career in admissions marketing or with a publishing company or a public relations firm.
Regardless of whether she's in the classroom or on the field, Rebecca's favorite thing about Lake Erie College is the people. "I've met my very best friends here," she said. "Between my coach, bosses, professors and peers, I know I'm surrounded by supportive people who want nothing more than to give LEC students the opportunity to succeed."
Rebecca urges prospective students to recognize that college is about both the education and the experience. "Find the school that will give you what you want out of both," she advised. "Then it's up to you to capitalize on those opportunities!"
