RESA Preparation and Remediation Online Courses
The School of Education and Professional Studies launched a series of online professional development courses for RESA. There are 2 options designed to meet the needs of teachers participating in the RESA process. The courses are designed and implemented by 2 Lake Erie College School of Education Alumni.

ED 5748 RESA Remediation (1 Credit) $230, Online course completed at your own pace during January 16 - April 17
The course is led by a certified RESA facilitator and is designed for those who need remediation after 1 or 2 unsuccessful RESA submissions. This 1 credit remediation course is designed to provide customized content aligned to the outcomes of an individual teacher RESA Score Report. You will be required to share your RESA Score Report with the course instructor so your customized content can be prepared.
ED 5749 RESA Remediation (3 Credit Hours) Field Hours, Online course completed at your own pace during January 16 - April 17
The course is led by a certified RESA facilitator and is designed for those who need remediation after 3 unsuccessful RESA submissions. This 3 credit remediation complies with Ohio Department of Education guidelines as stated in the Ohio Administrative Code 3301-24-04 pertaining to unsuccessful RESA attempts. Successful completion of the course and field experience provides you the opportunity to earn a one-year interim license.
“A resident educator who failed a third RESA attempt but seeks to become eligible to advance to a professional license must complete during the “remediation” year a minimum of three (3) semester hours of coursework and supervised field experiences and/or clinical experiences at an Ohio college or university approved for educator preparation. Resident educators should work with an Ohio institution of higher education to determine appropriate coursework that addresses the identified areas for growth based upon their RESA score report.”
The online content is customized to your individual RESA score report. The field hour supervision can be provided by an in house supervisor (principal or superintendent) or you can request a college supervisor. College supervisors can travel to Lake, Geauga, Cuyahoga and Ashtabula counties. You are required to participate in 4 field observations over the course of the semester.
Eligibility Requirements: You must hold a short or long term substitute license. You must be employed by a district; such as, a short term or long term substitute. You must be available for observations during the time you are substituting in a classroom.
PD Fee: 3 grad credits ($550) and Field Supervisor Hours ($200) $750
