The Lake Erie College cross country and track & field teams are pleased to present the second annual Spring Storm 10K Trail Run along with a new 5K Fun Hike. The event will take place Saturday, April 1 at Girdled Road Reservation in Concord Township beginning at 10:30 a.m.
A 10K (6.2 mile) trail run/walk/hike, the Spring Storm 10K Trail Run is open to all and serves as a fundraiser for the Storm cross country and track & field student-athletes. The course will start and finish near the reservation’s South parking lot located at 12926 Radcliffe Road, with the start/finish line one mile north of the trailhead. The 10K course will be two counterclockwise loops around Oak Leaf Trail, while the 5K will be one loop. The course is 100% dirt or gravel with some hills.
“This 10K is challenging and lots of fun,” said Coach Grant Lofdahl. “The new 5K is a non-competitive walk/hike for those who aren’t quite sure about a 10K race with hills, but who still want to take part.”
Registration for the 10K is $25 through March 20 and includes a green tech tee shirt from 10K Fitness & Apparel. Registrations made March 21 through race day will be $30. Registration for the 5K Hike is $20 per entrant while kids 11 and under are free. Checks should be payable to “Lake Erie Track & Field.” Registration is available online at https://springstormtrailrun.racedirector.com/.
Awards will be given to the following age groups for both males and females: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. There will also be awards for the overall male and female finishers.
