Dr. Carol P.
Ramsay came to Lake Erie College in 1991 to serve as the Associate Dean for
Teacher Preparation and Graduate Programs in Education. Previous to that she
was the Director of Secondary Education at Grove City College in Pennsylvania
and the first principal of Youngstown Christian Schools.
taught in the public elementary schools in Youngstown before accepting an
appointment to work with her church to establish a Christian School. During her
tenure at Youngstown Christian School, the school was founded and accredited by
the Ohio Department of Education and the Association for Christian Schools
International (ACSI) for Preschool through Grade 12. She not only developed curriculum for all
grades, hired teachers and staff, and administered the schools, but worked with 132 diverse churches garnering
support and students. The school began
in 1975 with less than 100 students and was serving about 400 students when she
resigned to begin her doctorate.
received her Bachelor’s Degree from Youngstown State University, her M.Ed. from
Westminster College, and doctorate from the University of Akron. She did post doctoral work at Grace
Theological Seminary in Christian Education.
At Lake Erie
College, Dr. Ramsay has served in many capacities as Professor, Associate Dean
of undergraduate and graduate programs, Associate Dean of Professional
Development, Field Director, Coordinator of Assessment and Accreditation and
has served on the Board of the NE Ohio Regional Professional Development Center
and the Board of the Ohio Association of Private Colleges of Teacher Education,
Planning Committee for OCTEO (Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education
Organizations) Conferences, Advisory Board for Hospice of the Western Reserve
and the Senior Panel for Distribution of Funds for United Way.
has served on Lake Erie College Committees including: Educational Planning
Committee, Academic Standards Committee, Faculty Evaluation Committee,
Institutional Review Board, General Education Committee, and Chair of the
Assessment Committee and a plethora of search committees.
brings 50+ years of experience in education to her position and to the students
married to Keith M. Ramsay (47 years), has two sons and three exceptional
grandchildren who hopefully will one day be Lake Erie College Graduates because
as Michael Oher says in Blind Sided, "This is where our family goes to school.”
She enjoys Bible Study, Reading, her
piano, and spending time with her immediate and large extended Italian family.
