8th Annual Storytelling Harvest to take place at Lake Erie College

Fine Arts,

On Saturday, Oct. 22, Lake Erie College education students and volunteers will come together for the 8th Annual Storytelling Harvest to read interactive stories to young children. A free literacy event, the Storytelling Harvest is geared toward children in grades PreK-5 from Painesville City Schools and the surrounding community and will incorporate stories in both English and Spanish.

The Storytelling Harvest will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the College Green behind College Hall on the Lake Erie College campus. Beneath the beautiful trees, participating children will have the opportunity to listen to and interact with storytellers, all with the goal of instilling a love of reading amongst our youth.

To encourage further reading after the event ends, each child who participates will receive a free book. Participants will also receive a healthy snack.

There will be a special culminating performance by Robin Echols Cooper, an amazing storyteller who brings vibrant characters to life through the use of theater skills, vocal characterizations, facial expressions and more.

All Lake Erie College faculty, staff and students are welcome to bring children to the event. The Storytelling Harvest is sponsored by the Lake Erie College School of Education and Professional Studies.

In the event of rain, the Storytelling Harvest will be moved to the Garfield Center on campus. For more information or to volunteer, contact Dr. Katharine Delavan at kdelavan@lec.edu.

Thank you to Target for sponsoring this event.
