Academic Development and Support Coordinator Job

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of academic development and support coordinator. This position is responsible for developing academic programming that directly supports students’ growth and success at Lake Erie College. The position focuses on empowering students through an academic focus as part of the Pathway to Empowerment (P2E) program. The academic development and support coordinator will immediately step into a junior leadership role on campus and must be a proactive creative problem-solver.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advocates for the academic needs of Lake Erie College students in both a visionary and practical capacity.

  • Coordinates Academic Learning Center support services, including the hiring, training, and managing of student and/or para-professional staff.

  • Coordinates with other campus leaders to support students’ academic, personal, and professional development.

  • Coordinates outreach and intervention efforts to students struggling academically, and serves a key role in the College’s overall retention efforts.

  • Develops innovative academic support programming to foster student success.

  • Develops marketing materials and directly promotes services to increase students’ academic engagement.

  • Serves as the academic programming and support services representative on select committees.

  • Serves as an information resource for students, faculty, and staff regarding College policies and procedures related to academic support and degree success.

  • Collaborates directly with key academic support offices such as the Writing Center and Accessibility Support.

  • Collaborates with the Offices of Admission, Financial Aid, Bursar Office, the Student Experience Suite, and Athletics in support of student academic success.

  • Ensures continuous programmatic improvement through surveys and other forms of assessment.

  • Assists with new student orientation programs and campus visit days.

  • May be invited to teach a section of the College’s HU 110 first-year experience course at the discretion of the Dean of Student Academic Success.

  • Other duties as assigned by the dean of student academic success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree with relevant higher education experience preferred. Exceptional candidates with a bachelor’s degree may be considered.

  • Direct experience with higher education academic program development a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in a close-knit team environment.

  • Must be responsive to the needs of a diverse student body and able to relate well to underrepresented and at-risk student populations.
