Alumnus Brad Harmon to Deliver LEC Commencement Address

Lake Erie College will celebrate its spring commencement on Saturday, May 7, 11:00 a.m. at Classic Park. Graduates and their families will be addressed by Brad Harmon ’89, Lake Erie College alumnus and Midwest Regional President at Advance Local. He will address the class of 124 graduates with a speech entitled Never Forget Where You Came From. Students and guests alike will be treated to expertise and life advice from Harmon, who is a senior media executive specializing in organizational management and structure, multi-media pricing innovation and change management, to name a few topics. He brings a unique perspective to his address thanks to his position with Advance Local, which is one of the largest media groups in the United States. Advance Local operates the leading news and information companies, including The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com in more than 20 cities, reaching more than 50 million people monthly with its quality journalism and community engagement. “I am truly humbled, honored, and appreciative for the opportunity to speak to the Class of 2022 on their special day,” said Harmon. “I’m looking forward to hearing the message from Brad Harmon. With truth under assault, the need for responsible, truthful journalism is only more important, and a key part of our mission is preparing our graduates for fulfilling lives as global citizens,” said Lake Erie College President, Dr. Brian Posler. Harmon was named the 2019 recipient of the Editor and Publisher of 10 Newspapers That Do It Right award and was named Publisher of the Year in 2018 from GateHouse Media with over 144 daily newspapers, 569 websites in 38 states. He graduated from Lake Erie College in 1989 with a marketing degree and now resides in Pepper Pike with his wife, Rachel, and sons Grant and Gavin.
