Director of Graduate Studies | STATUS: FULL-TIME, EXEMPT, SALARIED

REPORTS TO: SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS & INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of director of graduate studies.

The director, in collaboration with deans, faculty, and other personnel, is responsible for the planning, implementation, and logistics for graduate programs at Lake Erie College. In coordination with registration and admission personnel, the director is expected to provide leadership regarding recruiting, registration, and the logistical needs to support graduate programs at LEC, including its growing online programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Provides administrative leadership to all aspects of graduate programs, including curriculum, instruction, accreditation, and assessment, as well as logistical matters.

  • Coordinates graduate program advising and academic support.

  • Collaborates with deans and faculty in developing departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

  • Works with Admission, Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, Business Office and other internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective operations.

  • Works with Public Relations & Marketing, deans and Admission personnel to market the program and recruit students, to include visits and presentations to external audiences.

  • Collaborates with deans, faculty and appropriate personnel to monitor the achievement of student learning outcomes in relation to graduate programs.

  • Works closely with the Business Office and Academic Affairs personnel to develop a departmental budget and long-term fiscal planning strategies.

  • Regularly analyzes data, assists with setting and achieving goals and reports graduate recruiting outcomes to key stakeholders.

  • In collaboration with appropriate personnel, develops and maintains admission and registration policies and procedures related to graduate programs, to include online graduate programs.

  • Supervises the graduate program admission and registration specialist.

  • Represents graduate education College-wide and to external stakeholders.

  • Collaborates with institutional stakeholders to acquire grant funding to support graduate programs.

  • Recommends graduate education policies.

  • Other duties as assigned by the senior VP for academic affairs & institutional effectiveness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree; doctoral degree preferred.

  • Ability to relate to the mission of a small, independent institution like Lake Erie College.

  • Graduate level teaching and administrative experience at the college level.

  • Knowledge of graduate education curriculum and issues related to graduate education programs and students.

  • Must be proficient in data analysis and reporting and graduate recruiting strategies and tactics.

  • Knowledge of contemporary learning outcomes assessment at the graduate level.

  • Demonstrated experience and success with implementing growth and improvement strategies in a higher education setting
