On Friday, October 5, 2018, the Lake Erie College School of Education and Professional Studies will provide a workshop for 85 high school students preparing to compete for college scholarships at the 2019 Ohio Educators Rising Conference.
This year, Lake Erie College faculty members are leading the first Harvey High School Educators Rising team. It is the second year that Lake Erie College has offered students preparatory workshops for the conference.
Also in attendance will be teams from Medina County Career Center, Wayne County Schools Career Center, Maple Heights Career Tech Prep Consortium Teacher Academy, Parma High School, and Bedford City Schools.
Students will have the chance to explore Garfield Center, Austin Hall of Science and the recently renovated James F. Lincoln Library on campus.
The Ohio Educators Rising Conference will take place February 28 through March 1, 2019. Qualifying teams may advance to compete in the National Educators Rising Competition, slated for June 22-25 in Dallas, Texas.
“The education faculty are excited and inspired to work with high school students that want to become teachers,” said Dr. Katharine Delavan, dean of the School of Education and Professional Studies.
