Lake Erie College Hosts Virtual Faculty Staff Awards for 2020-2021

Lake Erie College usually ends their academic year with an annual Faculty/Staff Awards Ceremony and reception. With the pandemic, the Faculty/Staff Award Ceremony for 2020-2021 looked a little different.
In order to honor award winners as well as the amazing work that faculty and staff have done during the 2020-2021 year, the ceremony was held virtually on May 12 through Google Meets.
“It was disheartening to not be able to end our academic year with a Faculty Staff Reception and Awards ceremony,” Andrea Myers, Director of Human Resources at Lake Erie College, said. “We did not, however, want to miss the opportunity to recognize our outstanding employees.”
The virtual awards ceremony started with a warm welcome from President Dr. Brian Posler. The recording, available here, showcases all award winners as well as faculty and staff members who have made other major accomplishments during the 2020-2021 year.
While the 2020-2021 Faculty Staff Awards had to be held virtually for everyone’s safety, COVID-19 cases in Ohio have been going down as vaccination numbers have been going up. Governor Mike DeWine recently lifted COVID-19 restrictions, providing a light at the end of the tunnel and hope for an in-person awards ceremony next year.
“We hope to be able to celebrate together next year at the start of Fall 2021 Semester,” Myers said in an email to faculty and staff.
