Renewable scholarships are offered to applicants based on their academic performance and strength of college-level coursework.

Merit Scholarships for Transfer Students

Renewable scholarships are offered to applicants based on their academic performance and strength of college-level coursework. Involvement in extracurricular activities is also considered. For students who have been out of high school less than a year, or have less than 25 transferable credits, high school performance and coursework will also be considered in determining scholarship eligibility. 

  • Transfer Scholars 3.5+ GPA $14,000 per year

  • Transfer Scholars  3.0+ GPA $12,000 per year

  • Transfer Scholars  2.75+ GPA $10,000 per year

  • Transfer Scholars  2.5+GPA $8,000 per year

Specialty Awards

Lakeland Community College, Eastern Gateway Community College and Cuyahoga Community College Scholarship

Undergraduate students with a 2.5+ GPA from either LCC, EGCC or Tri-C who have earned 30 credit hours are eligible to receive a two year scholarship for $2,000. The last institution attended must be either LCC, EGCC or Tri-C. Post-baccalaureate students do not qualify.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Phi Theta Kappa is a national honor society for students attending two-year colleges.  Recipients of this scholarship are Phi Theta Kappa members who transfer to LEC with a minimum 3.25 GPA.  The student must provide verification of their membership at the point of admission. This is a one-year award for $2000, $1000 to be credited in the first term of enrollment and the remaining $1000 will be credited in the second term. Note: does not apply to Post-baccalaureate programs.

General Requirements

All of Lake Erie College awards are based upon full time, undergraduate enrollment.  Lake Erie College merit and need based awards are tuition based and in combination cannot exceed the value of tuition and fees.  

Merit awards and specialty awards may be renewed for 4 years or 8 semesters, provided Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) has been met. Renewal of need-based awards requires completing a FAFSA for that new academic year and are limited to 4 years or 8 semesters. 

Students enrolled less than full-time (12 credit hours) will be billed at an hourly rate. Lake Erie College awards all require full-time enrollment to receive.  

Other Scholarships, Grants and Loans

Once you are admitted to Lake Erie College, be sure to file your FAFSA. Include Lake Erie College as a school to receive your information.  Our school code is 003066.  The Financial Aid Office will receive your FAFSA in about a week.  We will determine your eligibility for any federal, state or Lake Erie college grants.  We will also include any student federal loan eligibility. We will send you a Financial Aid Notification with your aid eligibility and details on the next steps to take to secure your aid.
