Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applicants for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics, beginning with the 2022-23 academic year and reporting to the dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Using collaborative, instructional technology, and innovative methods this position will entail teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics (and possibly statistics), including but not be limited to: abstract algebra, geometry, linear algebra and senior research. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, advising and mentoring students in a liberal arts college environment, as well as service to the campus and local communities. To be considered for the assistant professor position, the candidate should hold a Ph.D. in mathematics, or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree before hire date is required. Preference is given to candidates with applied mathematical backgrounds and an ability to teach computational mathematics courses is a plus. Additionally, the successful applicant will have experience or demonstrated potential for integrating undergraduate students in research projects, especially those related to applied mathematics.
