WHAT TO EXPECT:

Why attend? Wondering how to make the most of the fair experience? Think about trying to achieve one or more of these goals:

  • Effectively express your knowledge, skills, career interests, and curiosity to a professional

  • Expand your professional network and build mutually beneficial professional relationships

  • Identify 2-3 follow-up actions that may include:

  • Writing a follow up email, making a phone call, or sending a LinkedIn connection/message to a recruiter you met at the fair

  • Applying for a position of interest at a company who attended the fair

  • Research a career path, job title, or advanced degree option that was highlighted at the fair

  • Gain a future interview with one of the companies

  • Reflect on how your participation in this fair impacts your career progression

  • Identify ways in which different industries/career communities have different requirements to succeed

  • Broaden your horizons to consider career possibilities outside those commonly associated with your major

HOW IT WORKS:

Virtual fairs in Handshake provide you with the opportunity to participate in Group Sessions:

  • 30 minutes each

  • Multiple students can attend

  • Great for learning more about an organization's culture, what they do, and/or about a specific internship or training program they might offer
