Appropriate Attire for Commencement

  • It is a good idea to take your cap and gown out of the bag and hang on a hanger, a few days before the ceremony to relax wrinkles. You may steam or iron your gown with a WARM iron (not hot) to ensure a neat appearance.

  • Don't have a steamer or iron? Hang your gown on a hanger in the bathroom and the steam from the shower should reduce the look of the wrinkles!

  • Dresses or dress pants and blouse and clean dress shoes. We suggest avoiding very high heels. These can make maneuvering ramps or steps difficult/dangerous.

  • Trousers, dress shirt and tie and clean dress shoes

  • Flip-flops are not appropriate footwear for a formal event! These can make maneuvering ramps or steps difficult/dangerous.

Graduation Regalia

All graduating students participating in the ceremony must order graduation regalia (cap and gown). Your regalia order must be submitted to the Registrar's Office with our graduation form. Orders received after the regalia order is placed may be subject to an additional $10.00 late fee to cover special processing and shipping costs.

All caps and gowns will be distributed by the Registrar’s Office. Caps, gowns and hoods must be returned following the graduation ceremony to the designated location. Those who do not return their regalia after the ceremony will not receive their diploma and will be billed for the replacement value of the cap and gown.
