David Price Named Next Head Coach of Lake Erie Football

Lake Erie College Athletics announced today that David Price has been named the next head coach of the Storm football program, becoming the sixth in team history.

"I am thrilled to have Coach Price be the next leader of Storm Football," said Molly Hoffman, Executive Director of Athletics. "His knowledge of NCAA Division 2 as well as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference are going to make a tremendous impact on our team. His commitment to academics, campus culture and athletics is an addition that we are extremely excited about and will help Lake Erie College continue to grow."

Price comes to Lake Erie after spending the last five seasons at Tiffin University. In 2023, Price was elevated to the role of Defensive Coordinator and also served as the Associate Head Coach, Defensive Line Coach and Academic Coordinator. Under his leadership, the Dragons finished the 2023 campaign with an 11-1 record, finishing as the Great Midwest champions for the 3rd time in 5 years, and earning the top regional seed in the NCAA Tournament. Price's defense made history in 2023. The Tiffin Defense finished as the best in the G-MAC leading the league in Scoring Defense (16.3 ppg), Total Defense (265.2 ypg), Passing Defense (142 ypg), Defensive Efficiency (87.5), 3rd Down Defense (29%), and 4th Down Defense (23%). The TU Defense was also top-10 nationally in multiple categories including #1 in the country in total takeaways (31).

"First and foremost I would to thank my Lord and Savior for this tremendous opportunity," said David Price. "President Schuller and Molly Hoffman, the unwavering support you both have shown through this entire process speaks volumes to the level of pride you take in Lake Erie athletics. I'm excited for our program to make you, and the entire campus community proud on and off the field. I cannot let this moment pass without thanking my teammate for life, my wife Jackie. Coach, you inspire me daily. Thank you. LEC is located in one of the strongest regions of football in the country. It's time to plant our flag. Now let's get to work!"

In addition to his on-the-field success, Price was vital in the continued growth of Tiffin's student-athletes in his role as academic coordinator. He helped improve the team's overall GPA from a 2.43 to a 2.83 in just his first year and saw an increase of 37 total student-athletes earn above a 3.0 in two years.

Before arriving at Tiffin, Price spent time at Wheeling (2018), Ohio Northern (2016-17), and Hiram (2010-2015). He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in Psychology, where as a student he was a walk-on member of the football team.
