George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center at Lake Erie College
Located approximately five miles from the Main Campus in, the George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center is the home of the Lake Erie College Equine Studies program. Our state-of-the-art facility provides classroom and laboratory space for the academic program in equine studies, as well as offices for faculty and staff. “EQ,” as the center is affectionately called, contains a computer lab, WiFi, a kitchen, and a popular student lounge overlooking the main indoor arena. Riders who wish to clean up before returning to main campus often take advantage of the locker room and showers.
The 86-acre facility offers permanent stabling for up to 95 horses including school horses and student boarders, in two barns. We have indoor temporary stabling for an additional 39 horses during horse shows. Our turnouts include grass and all-weather paddocks with electric and vinyl fences.
The 100' x 250' indoor arena has an attached 70' x 120' warm-up ring and seating for 700 spectators. For outside riding, a lighted 100' x 250’ enclosed outdoor arena, limestone warm up ring, a hunt field with cross country jumps, and a multi-tier bank complex keep it interesting. Throughout the year, we host several dressage and hunter/jumper shows, as well as clinics with professional horsemen. Information regarding upcoming shows and clinics is available on our web site at www.lec.edu/equine-events.
