Lake Erie College Celebrates Women’s History Month | Painesville, OH
Beginning on International Women’s Day, Lake Erie College will open a month-long celebration of women’s history.
Beginning on March 8, International Women’s Day, Lake Erie College will open a month-long celebration of women’s history. Through cross-departmental support, an interactive Gallery Walk has been installed in the James F. Lincoln Library to showcase the history of women’s suffrage, in athletics, in College history, in fashion, and in civil rights.
The Gallery Walk celebrates women from every walk of life. Adjunct professor of psychology Anna Tyrrell has provided a collection of historical purses, and women’s basketball coach Mackenzie Perttu contributed a women’s athlete timeline. Visitors can enjoy the gallery walk created by students in the CM270 Rhetoric of Women’s Rights course, while recording answers in their ballot. They can make a button, enjoy a jigsaw puzzle, and view the oversized version of the Declaration of Sentiments from the Seneca Falls Convention.
The walk also features a sneak peek of the Women’s Suffrage Memorial to be dedicated at Lake Erie College on Thursday, August 26th 2021. Students, coaches, faculty and staff have all contributed to this marvelous exhibit.
Viewing is possible for the community by making an appointment for a daytime visit by calling (440) 375-7405.
