Lake Erie College to Host Dynamic, Hands-On Art Experience This Fall | with “In Process”
Lake Erie College is pleased to announce In Process: A Real Time Art Experience, a dynamic new exhibition and interactive art event at the B.K. Smith Gallery, running from August 18 through October 24, 2025, with a special hands-on experience on September 27.
The centerpiece of In Process will be a special one-day event on Saturday, September 27, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., where exhibiting artists will create and develop new works onsite in real time. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch these artists at work, engage in conversation about their creative process, and even participate in select hands-on experiences. A collaborative postcard mural led by LEC students will invite public participation, while guided tours of Royce Hall will offer a behind-the-scenes look at where artists are creating. This project recalls the spirit of LEC’s beloved former “48 Hours” arts events by bringing together regional artists, students, and the community for a celebration of creativity in action.
The full exhibition, on display at the B.K. Smith Gallery, will feature existing work from 15 Northeast Ohio artists. Following the live event, works created during the September 27th session will be added to the exhibition, allowing visitors to witness the living evolution of the show.

“In Process invites the community to experience the act of making art, not just the finished product,” said Assistant Professor of Visual Arts & B.K. Smith Gallery Director Grace Summanen. “This is a rare chance to connect with artists at work, ask questions, and even be part of the creative journey.”
The exhibit and event are free and open to the public.
