National Podcast to Feature Lake Erie College’s | Award-Winning PA Program

The Lake Erie College Physician Assistant (PA) Program will be featured in an upcoming episode of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) podcast series The PA Path Podcast after winning national recognition for outstanding outreach in the 2024 Project Access competition.

The podcast episode, scheduled to air in October 2025, will spotlight Lake Erie College’s innovative and effective efforts to promote the PA profession among underrepresented high school students. Project Access, a national outreach initiative led by PAEA, aims to increase awareness of the PA profession, particularly among students from underserved communities. Their goal is to foster a more diverse healthcare workforce, improve access to primary care, and reduce health disparities.

Lake Erie College’s PA Program took top honors in the 2024 competition for its commitment to engaging local youth and empowering them to see the PA profession as an accessible and fulfilling career path. The program's success was driven by collaborative efforts between faculty and students to create meaningful, inspiring outreach experiences.

Professor Sean Kramer and student Rachel Rogowski (‘25), who served as the student champion for the initiative, will represent Lake Erie College during the podcast recording on Friday, September 12. Together, they will share insights into their award-winning approach and offer guidance for other PA programs seeking to replicate their success.

“We’re honored to share our experience and encourage youth toward healthcare careers like the PA profession,” said Professor Kramer. “Project Access has been a transformative experience for our students and for the young people we’ve reached.”
