Auburn Career Center and Lake Erie College are proud to announce the launch of Lake Erie College at Auburn, a new on-campus College Credit Plus (CCP) partnership that will begin in the 2026–2027 school year. This initiative expands access to transferable college coursework while reinforcing the Auburn Career Center’s long-standing mission of preparing students for success in the workforce.
Lake Erie College at Auburn is designed to ensure students don't have to choose between college and career; the answer can be both. Students will have the flexibility to take one, multiple, or no CCP courses while continuing to participate fully in Auburn’s hands-on, career-focused programs.
Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, Lake Erie College at Auburn will be housed in the newly renovated Auburn Workforce and Innovation Center, transforming the former auditorium into a professional learning environment with three dedicated classrooms. Renovations will take place during the summer of 2026 and are intended to expand access and opportunity for students across Auburn’s member districts.
“In my first year at Auburn Career Center, one of my priorities has been removing the false narrative families often feel they must make between college and career,” said Dr. Joe Glavan, Superintendent of Auburn Career Center. “Lake Erie College at Auburn allows us to stay true to Auburn’s workforce mission while opening additional doors for students to earn college credit while they explore career pathways. This new partnership, in addition to our already strong college articulation agreements, reflects our belief that students can graduate both career-ready and college-prepared.”
In its first year, Lake Erie College at Auburn will offer a robust set of transferable College Credit Plus courses. Fall semester offerings include College Writing I, Pre-Calculus I, and Public Speaking, while spring semester offerings include College Writing II, Pre-Calculus II, and General Psychology. All courses are part of Ohio’s College Credit Plus program.
Courses will be offered in 50-minute sessions and scheduled twice daily, allowing students to attend both CCP coursework and their Auburn Career Center programs on the same day, either college courses in the morning and CTE programming in the afternoon, or the reverse.
“This partnership represents an exciting expansion of access to higher education for students in Lake and Geauga counties,” said Lake Erie College Jennifer N. Schuller. “By bringing College Credit Plus courses directly to Auburn’s campus, we are meeting students where they are and supporting their academic and career goals in a meaningful, flexible way.”
In addition to CCP coursework, Lake Erie College at Auburn will also serve as the new home of Auburn’s Education Pathways program. This two-year Career-Technical Education program embeds Lake Erie College coursework directly into the pathway, giving students an early start toward careers in education while earning college credit.
The Education Pathways program is a collaborative effort between Auburn Career Center, Lake Erie College, and the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve, aligning rigorous academics with hands-on experience and real-world classroom pathways to prepare the next generation of educators.
Lake Erie College at Auburn reflects the Auburn Career Center’s broader commitment to innovation, access, and student-centered pathways that meet both workforce and higher education demands.
