Lake Erie College Launches New Student Literary Magazine| Lake Erie Echoes
Lake Erie College proudly announces the launch of its new student literary magazine, Lake Erie Echoes, a publication created by the college’s Creative Writing Club to showcase original student writing.
The inaugural issue debuted at a celebratory launch party held in the Lincoln Learning Commons, where students and faculty gathered to honor the club’s achievements. The magazine represents the culmination of a year-long creative journey initiated in the fall of 2024, when student Mackenzie Meeker and faculty advisor Dr. Amy Kesegich began developing the idea for a creative writing-focused student organization.
By spring 2025, the Creative Writing Club had taken shape, meeting monthly for writing sessions and peer workshops. Inspired by their shared enthusiasm for storytelling, the club decided to publish a literary magazine to feature their work and invite the broader campus community into their creative world.
Club member Nathan White, drawing from his experience with The Lakelander at Lakeland Community College, took the lead in compiling and formatting the magazine using publishing software and guided the project through to its final print.
Looking ahead, the club will be led by incoming president Emily Kasiewicz, whose imaginative writing prompts have already energized the group’s meetings and sparked new creative directions.
Lake Erie Echoes not only offers students a platform to share their voices but also signals a growing culture of literary expression and collaboration at Lake Erie College.
