LEC to Host the CEAO 2022 Spring Conference

On Saturday, April 9 The College English Association of Ohio (CEAO) 2022 Spring Conference will be held at Lake Erie College. Representatives from college English departments across the state will be on campus or attending virtually. The theme of the conference is New Beginnings: Rejuvenating English Studies.

“We are delighted to welcome peers from colleges and universities in Ohio and beyond to discuss current issues in the field of English studies,” said Jennifer A. Swartz-Levine, PhD, Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. “This annual conference is an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues outside of our individual institutions as we share ideas and best practices for teaching, research, and engaging students in the classroom. This is always an invigorating and inspiring conference, and it's especially relevant this year as we turn our attention to the conference's theme of new beginnings and rejuvenation.”

Possible topics discussed at the conference may include innovation in research methods; new perspectives in reading, writing, assessing and teaching different genres; new mindsets in terms of practices for engaging students in the community, the university/college, and the classroom through civic engagement, service learning, multidisciplinary and other outreach opportunities; and growth of new and creative professional development opportunities. Attendees are also invited to share new ideas that highlight how Writing Studies have been rejuvenated through the shifts in perspective related to education, communication, literature, writing, and administration due to the ongoing pandemic.

Since 1938, the College English Association has been a vibrant, growing professional organization of scholar-teachers who regard teaching college students, undergraduate and graduate, as the proper focus of the profession. The College English Association of Ohio (CEAO) is the only statewide professional organization for college-level English departments.
