Dr. Pamela A. Hess is the Dean of the School of Equine Studies and Associate Professor of Equine Studies at Lake Erie College. Dr. Hess completed her undergraduate studies at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Dr. Hess received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. After completing an Internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery at Kansas State University, and a three-year Residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine with Equine Emphasis at the University of California at Davis, Dr. Hess took a position as Assistant Professor of Equine Internal Medicine at the School of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma from 1992-1995.
In 1996, Dr. Hess moved back to her Cleveland area home and founded her own private veterinary practice Western Reserve Equine Medical Services, Inc. At Western Reserve Equine Dr. Hess worked exclusively with horses and alpacas in general farm practice and reproduction services. She joined the faculty at Lake Erie first as an Adjunct Instructor in 2009, and as an Associate Professor in Equine Studies in the fall of 2010. In July 2012 she was appointed the Interim Dean of the School of Equine Studies, and was made the Dean of Equine Studies in March of 2013.
